Paulo Sergio Pinto graduated in civil engineering - with specialization in structures - from IME - Instituto Militar de Engenharia (Military Institute of Engineering), in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1969. Still in IME, he began to develop programs for Structural Analysis, using FORTRAN in an IBM 1130 with 16 Kbytes of RAM (attention, 16 kilobytes, not megabytes).
In
the jurassic period of the microcomputers,
he acquired a Radio Shack TRS-80 Model I and has studied and followed
up
on all the developments in that area ever since. In 1984, he launched
the
first BBS in Brazil (for further information , please refer to page The
Digital Pioneers). Since then, he has participated in several
BBS.
During 35 years he was a teacher of Structural Analysis I and
II in the Civil
Engineering course of the Rio de Janeiro State University. He is also
one
of the pioneers in the use of Internet in Brazil.
